Review: Miss A, Hush

Miss A has been keeping us waiting for quite a while since the release of I Don't Need a Man last year. JYP Entertainment has been teasing us for some time about a possible comeback for a group and they've finally delivered with their latest song Hush. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out below!

The Video

Theme/Story: This is one of those videos that focus on the dance rather than any type of story to go along with with the meaning of the song. This is good only because sometimes you see companies trying to mesh the two together and ending up with a meaningless and/or confusing video with dance breaks that interrupt whatever terrible story they have going on. I'd rather see one or the other. As far as the theme, this is a lot darker than I Don't Need a Man but Miss A isn't the type of group to release bright, colorful bubbly songs filled with grotesque amounts of aegyo. I remember it being said at one point in time that because Suzy wasn't old enough, Miss A couldn't go with a more mature, sensual concept. Well now that she is finally of age, they can finally focus on a more sexier image, which works amazingly well for them.

Visuals: Like I said before, Suzy is finally of age which means a sexier Miss A! Of course, this isn't like Girls' Day bordering on raunchy kind of sexy, rather it's more of a classy kind. I've always thought of Miss A as a very classy kind of group and it's good to see that it translates well when they transition into something a little more risque.

Dance: The dance opens up with the girls behind curtains while Min dances outside and is soon groped by Jia and Fei (which I thought was pretty hot) and then transitions into Suzy's part. Soon after, they turn it up a notch by tearing down the curtains and then the real fun begins... Kinda. I'm not too impressed by the song. Other than the beginning, it leaves no lasting impression on me and parts of it seem a little uncoordinated. It's better than I Don't Need a Man's painfully simplistic dance at the very least.

The Song

I have always found Miss A to be a more refreshing group compared to a lot of other acts because they lack that heavy electric sound I'm so used to hearing in a lot of the more popular groups. I'm not saying that electro synth sounds are bad, it's just a girl needs a break every now and then. The song is actually quite good too. The vocals blend well together to make a harmony that's pleasing to the ears and I especially like the end where each member sings a part of the stanza line by line. The "yeah" interjected in parts of the song are a little bit awkward yet they somehow work well with the song. I like it but at the same time I don't like it. Maybe it'll take a few more listens before I can fully decide how I feel about it. There's also a part where they transition into a slower melody with a disgusting "uh-huh" that makes me cringe every time I hear it. Overall, the song isn't half bad, though it isn't exceptional either.

So what did you think of the song? Comment below!

Miss A's Min Makes a Hilarious Joke and Netizens Throw Out the Racist Card

MinRickRoss

Miss A's Min, is currently under fire for posting a hilarious meme of Rick Ross's face over Sunmi's face with the caption "Rick Ross minus 24 servings" and now everyone thinks she's racist. Everyone knows the stereotype about black people loving fried chicken, but this is less about a racial stereotype but more about how Rick Ross is a fatass. There's nothing even stereotypical about it! The man loves chicken so much, he raps about chicken, owns several chicken restaurants, hell, he's made of chicken. The meme is basically stating that if he didn't eat so much chicken, he'd probably have a skinnier body.

Later, JYP apologizes for it to hopefully calm down raging netizens. The statement can be seen below, as translated by allkpop.
She posted it without any malicious intent. She later realized it was wrong of her to do so and took the picture down. She had no intention of causing a racial discrimination controversy.
Admittedly, the apology is probably necessary because they're usually a sure fire way of calming down netizens if the timing is right. Min took down the picture as well so hopefully netizens will cool their shit and take a moment to think for once (which is highly doubtful).

Personally, I think it's a great joke and Min has a wonderful sense of humor.

So what do you think? Do you think the joke is racist or do you think netizens were just waiting to throw something out there to cause another controversy? Comment below!

It's a Crime for Girls' Day Yura to Have Eyes in Netizenlandia

Here ye, here ye. Gather round, my fellow inhabitants of Netizenlandia for the most informative, substantial and excruciatingly important piece of information you will hear all day:

You are all little fucktards.

So if you didn't make the wrong turn in the wardrobe and headed to Narnia, you'd probably know by now that Girls' Day's Yura was accused of disliking Miss A's Suzy because of her eyes, netizens around categorizing her action as either a 'glare', the 'once over', a 'look of jealousy' and all simply having the best of times and the worst of times on their high horse while sitting behind a computer chair in protection.

What I'd like to categorize the action as? CTBOASWSHIDH which means Checking the bitch out and seeing what she has, I don't have i.e. the look of jealousy some people were talking about. We all (especially females) have done it so shut your legs and mouth and understand it from your experience as well as Yura's point of view.

There's always been someone who you rolled your eyes over to, looked up and down, around, sideways, zigzag and every way else simply cause you were seeing what makes them better than you. In fact, it's so common, it's simply involuntary and should be categorized as a natural instinct for human beings when they feel threatened or inferior to another person.

But does this mean 'ill-will'?

Jealousy should be categorized as something else than negative feelings towards another cause let's face it, we're all jealous of someone. I'm jealous of my best friend because she's taller than me. Do I hate her? I'm jealous of Tiffany cause she's a fucking member of Girls' Generation. Do I hate her? I'm jealous of Bom of being the epitome of perfection (fuck h8rs, Bommie, ily). Do I hate her? So why is Yura put on blame for this?

Of course she's jelly: this girl standing like an inch away is Korea's 'it-girl' at the moment, can control men with the snap of a finger and is more popular than everyone in Girls' Day combined.

But should it be viewed as the most evil, vile and unnatural thing in existence?

I'll make you filthy peasants decide and pick her fate today.

All who thinks she's guilty, a scoundrel and a bloody witch who should be hanged say ye (you're going to the dungeon if you pick this one).
All who thinks she's innocent say neigh and get yourself a mutton since you're actually a level-headed human being.

Court is adjourned... or something.
