The three Korean Angels Representing Asia aka KARA girls, Goo Hara, Han Seungyeon and Kang Jiyoung appeared on Radio Star alongside notable sunbaes like Park Jinyoung and even Kyuhyun, making a long-lasting impression on viewers of the show. Summarized from tons of articles via netizenbuzz:

the vocally untalented and even more plastic than her previous plastic self visual, Goo Hara, Seungyeon and Jiyoung cried a river over pure nonsense, Jiyoung bursting into (fake) tears after admitting people constantly ask her to do aegyo when she didn't have aegyo and of course, taking advice from emotionless Krystal and forgetting she was a celebrity who had to do simple shit like smile, laugh and do aegyo whether it's unwillingly or not in order to get the food on the table at the end of the day.
Later, the apparent hot topic from everyone's mouths was that Goo Hara threw her water bottle across the room for no real reason other than to act rude and non-classy in the presence of seniors, causing secondhand embarrassment to the thousands of viewers watching it and lowering her already lowered respect. Likewise, she also noted that when her cannot-sing-a-note self was eliminated from JYP, Sunmi who could actually sing even if it's average was placed in, causing even more ruckus in the netizen world.

I'm sorry, but are these the same girls who couldn't all-kill with their newest song, Damaged Lady? Even the one person, G-Dragon, who's still relevant in Korea continues to come in humbly and for fucks sake doesn't throw water bottles or cry over his lack of aegyo. After Goo Hara's scandal with Lee Soo Hyuk, you'd expect some more composure from the three girls as well as cooperation with the program instead of begging the hosts to hold off on the disses. Plus, Seungyeon blamed her shitty acting on the viewers being used 'seeing her as an idiol' when no, it was solely her shitty acting.

What? Are they trying to gain fans or lose 'em?

Being removed like all of your fans

Now, now, KAMILIAS, settle down. Unwad your undergarments and hear me out. That behavior for anyone, especially a celebrity that children look up to, is far from acceptable. Similarly, I was curious as to why an MC didn't call them out then realized they probably knew the netizens would and didn't even bother.

On a different note, I really have to bring up this question because it's confusing to basically every fan associated with K-Pop: Is KARA even relevant in Korea anymore?
My answer is no: Their advancement and focus to Japan, similar to Wonder Girls' in America, definitely screwed them up, them, even being behind groups like 4 Minute and arguably f(x) now, and Japan giving them the most care.

  1. "...Their advancement and focus to Japan, similar to Wonder Girls' in America, definitely screwed them up..."

But Japan is where all the real money is made. Even SNSD basically said "fuck Korea" when they realized how much more money there was in Japan.

Japan is what enabled Hara to pay a million in cash for a house last year.

Kara is definitely falling in status in Korea but so is 2NE1 and they don't have a lucrative Japanese market to fall back on.

As far as this Radio Star incident goes, I thought it was downright silly after watching the actual video. They cried a bit (while laughing) and Hara slid a water bottle across a table. And both Kara and the hosts apologized to each other at the end. Wow - what a "controversy". Netizens are so damn stupid.

  2. You obviously don't know the full story so read this: http://justhara.tumblr.com/post/60611183449/radio-star-another-side-of-the-history

  3. The allkpop translation of this reads a lot more uncomfortable than what it actually was. Hara lost her composure a bit, but it seemed no harm no foul to me. It's the sort of stuff that should have been discussed before filming, but after a bit of awkwardness, both Kara and the hosts were able to smooth it over.

  4. That is an extremely biased POV and shouldn't even be recognized as a credible source since of course, we all have 'those friends who work in the industry' whenever something goes wrong.

I wasn't denying that. In fact, it was subtly implied that they left Korea and went to Japan for the real cash. The thing I was pointing out is their Japan advancement left them irrelevant in Korea (bringing up 2NE1 is irrelevant, tbh since they primarily focus on Korean market & is a bit different than SNSD & KARA who's putting their primary focus on Japan), not taking note of their huge popularity in Japan.

Well, I didn't watch it but from what I hear, some parts aren't that bad but other parts simply were 'that bad'. I know you and I both come from a society where we have people who can cuss out someone on American Idol (*cough*Nicki Minaj*cough*) and still get away with it but Korea's terms of respect and American terms of respect are totally different so... yeah.
