Persistent yet always captivating, T-ara released a much speculated track, this time in sub-unit form. Showcasing their 3 power members, Hyomin, Jiyeon and Eunjung, as well as trying to promote their newest member, Ahreum, T-ara N4 brought out not only a dance version but also a drama version of 'Countryside Life'. Watch the videos below if you haven't already:

Dance Version:
First and foremost, let me explain this is an unbiased opinion. Before their controversy, I never really followed T-ara, not being a fan or an anti-fan but just a person who listened to their music. After their controversy, I still remained that way because, hey, not my fandom, not my problem. Second, following their damaging controversy involving the removal of previous T-ara member, Hwayoung, as well as accusations of bullying, their company, Core Contents Media remained firm and fixed with their bread winner, T-ara, debuting a sub-unit whilst trying to gain back their lost popularity and respect with the song 'Rural/Countryside Life'.
The song
The song was actually... pretty good. Despite my previous doubts after listening to their Japanese comeback song 'Bunny Style' and gagging, I actually do like this song. A lot. It has a sort of 'Lovey Dovey' and 'Roly Poly' feel to it, those two songs basically being the songs that rose T-ara to their high popularity in the first place. Though the man rapping and was somewhat spontaneous, I really grew to like it.
And it's unavoidable that I have to mention the parts of the song when it was said "Mind Your Business" and "Why You Hating?" because it just kind of goes along with T-ara after their unanswered scandal and the immense amount of anti-fans they acquired. In fact, it kind of just gave us all a slap in the face and a "I don't listen to T-ara because of who they are or what they did, I listen to T-ara because their music is the shit".
The video
Through my understanding, the drama version was about them leaving the rural life and having to adapt to a more urban life, it being better than I honestly expected. Genuinely, I have to say this is one of T-ara's best videos, it not being so damn long but still getting straight to the point and adding all the elements of their usual drama versions, me even chuckling at times due to the amount dorkiness that was displayed in the video.
The dance version was actually pretty decent, too, the only negative to it is the constant flickering of lights that gave me three and a half seizures.
The dance
The dance is great, the most memorable part of it being that little "boob-roll, turn head" move they did during the chorus. I feel like the dance really fit the song and just kind of showed that T-ara just doesn't give a fuck, anymore.
To Sum It All Up
In spite of their troubles, T-ara did it again. Creating yet another chart-topping song is just one thing they accomplished, but maybe... just maybe, they can gain back their much-wanted popularity and have people "mind their business" and forget about the past.
What did you think about T-ara N4's new song, Countryside Life? Better yet, what do you think will happen to T-ara in the future?
Awesome as always. Never failed to give their fans surprise XD
ReplyDeleteT-ara already proved that they can come back in the midst of controversy with "Sexy Love", which was released at a time when the scandal was far more relevant than it is now and it still got to #3 on Gaon. Netizen opinion is not equal to public opinion. In Korea T-ara is still played everywhere. Believe it or not, the average person in Korea just wants to hear good music and will judge a song on these merits alone.
