- Review: Infinite - Destiny Ver. B

With the what seemed like "Infinite" waiting time, the seven member boy group came back with their 'blockbuster' level music video (which was shot in places where movies like Inception, Transformers and Amazing Spiderman was shot), Destiny. What to know your destiny? Check out the video below.
Though I'm not a extreme fan of Infinite, I was honestly anticipating the music video due to the quality of the teasers as well as the talk about the 'blockbuster-ness' (yes, that is a word; I just made it.). Yet, due to the recent, slumping quality of songs all throughout K-Pop, I thought it would be just a typical track--however, I was proven wrong after I finished the video, still recovering from my awe.
The song:
The song is undoubtedly on the top of the list for best July comebacks. In my opinion, it truly was above the other 'regular' and 'average' sounding songs. From what it seems, not only did it fit the group well, but it also highlighted and utilized all of their individual talents. What I liked about the song is how it builds up through the initial verse, slows down as it enters the pre-chorus, then picks up again at the chorus non-sloppily unlike other tracks when they change throughout the song. Likewise, the chorus's 'you are my destiny, woo~ oo~ oo~ oo~' is highly addictive, the sleekness of that track assisting the song perfectly.
The music video:
You can definitely tell the company, Woollim Entertainment, spent the extra buck to produce this music video. Not only is the venue expensive, (as said before, it was filmed where many amazing films have been sold) but the editing is beyond amazing... in fact, I can't really complain about much in the video... well, except one...
This isn't really a complaint, the video was great, however, the additions of random 'super powers' or whatever-they-were-supposed-to-be things didn't correlate with the overall meaning of the song. There was driving, seeing doubles, breaking innocent chairs, really stylish and unbelievable falling down (on Myungsoo's behalf) and of course, lots of walking and running... however, nothing even going along with the song's overall meaning of a lover who left and them trying to get her back since clearly, she's their destiny! I wish, even if there wasn't much of it in the video, maybe just a little symbolism or like, a phone ring in the end. Woollim spent so hard making the video 'blockbuster' level that they forgot making it 'understandable' level.

The dance:
As usual, Infinite's choreography takes advantage of the seven members and created a perfect dance routine... in fact, it surprises me how awesome it is. The only downside is that there's no memorable move apparent at all.
To sum it all up:
Infinite released an amazing track with an amazing video and an amazing track, making Destiny simply an amazing comeback. Although there's definitely has some small downsides to the overall product, I can't say that it takes so much of a toll on Destiny... and I encourage anyone and everyone, no matter if you're an Infinite fan or not, to just take a peek at the video... you will definitely not be disappointed.

This song and MV is a definite step up from man in love wich I personally didn't like at all.
ReplyDeleteAs said in this Review the Chorus is extreay addictive and the sets and editing is amazing.
All I want to know is were Dongwoo was driving to, seriously why was he driving? Did he even have a destination, or did he just drive hundreds of miles Wasting money on gas just to look handsome while driving.
He probably just got lost and was too proud to ask for directions, one word GPS.

ReplyDeleteExactly! I was actually going to mention that but chose not to. I mean, sure, the driving looks cool but what's the point?

^lmao!
I think Ver A will probably shed light to everything we're wondering of........... unless Woollim decides to troll us. Face it, when has ever any Infinite MV make sense? /looking at you BTD, The Chaser/
ReplyDeleteRumors say Ver A is 30-minute drama version. And scrapped for now out of respect for the Asiana plane tragedy.
IMHO, I doubt Ver A will have the same elements (Dongwoo's driving, Myungsoo's obviously acted out falling, etc.) because it seems like if that rumor actually is true, it'll probably be something better... rather than us seeing about 5 minutes of Dongwoo driving off into the distance.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Kpopland is full of combusted ovaries at the sight of his swishy hair, pensive eyes, pouty mouth and strong grip, so I think Dongwoo driving off somewhere subtly succeeded XD
ReplyDelete[Excuse this obvious flaily comment]
You're excused XD.
